NEWS - ARCHIVE 2021
You can read the news items of Pétanque Union Bois le Duc from 2021 here.
November 25, 2021 - In anticipation of the Corona press conference next Friday evening, the Ouwestomp Foundation has decided to close the Veterans Meeting Center Den Bosch‑Brabant Noord for an indefinite period. An understandable action that unfortunately also brings the pétanque to a standstill. We'll let you know when it's playing again. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for this.
November 18, 2021 - Today, with the registration of 3 new preliminary members, the number of 100 (preliminary) members has been reached. A nice result if you realise that we are still swimming against the negative COVID19 current and that promotion is on the back burner, with the lack of a full-fledged accommodation and the winter on the way.
The potential in terms of members in 's‑Hertogenbosch will only really manifest itself once our plans for the accommodation, consisting of 16 jeu de boules with sustainable LED lighting on the terrain of s.v. C.H.C., have been realised, but it is very cool to notice that people already know where to find us. A promise for the future! 🙂
The official application process is underway: it will soon really happen ... The application process will take a few more months, but then the 1st pétanque sports association in 's‑Hertogenbosch will hopefully be a fact 🤞
November 9, 2021 - Yesterday evening/today Niek Buskop, Jochen Nospickel, Dennis Pol and Antoon van Mil participated with good results in the unofficial ‘1st Open Tilburg Championship Jeu de Boules’. This event was held in games and event bar NondeJeu in Tilburg.
Out of 24 teams, the Bossche team took 4th place. After a narrow loss in the semi-final (only 1 point difference), the consolation final was also lost by the same margin around half past one at night(!). It didn't spoil the fun, the quartet can look back on an extremely pleasant and successful evening. 🙂

The presentation given was very positively received by the present preliminary members. For that reason, the board will continue on the chosen path with the ultimate goal of a sporty opening of the accommodation, together with the board of s.v. C.H.C., on Saturday, March 5th 2022.
By the way, it is still possible to register yourself as a preliminary member, you can do that here.
October 5, 2021 - Loose sets of boules, every pétanque association has them somewhere. Often the boules are loose in large boxes or else in those cumbersome wooden boxes. Well, not with us! 😉
Thanks to Engels Logistics, Pétanque Union Bois le Duc has access to luxury plastic suitcases from their E‑line series, equipped with a trolley. Top stuff, made of durable plastic and provided with a foam filling.
English Logistics, thank you for your sponsorship! 🙂
September 20, 2021 - Sponsorship, in whatever degree, is of great importance to many associations. The income often just outweighs the expenses, so sponsors are sought for as many things as possible. For example, Chairman Antoon van Mil discovered that there was no long HDMi cable near the presentation screen in the association building of the Ouwestomp Foundation to which, for example, a laptop could be connected. So he went looking for a sponsor and found one in Allekabels.nl. This online company has no less than > 170,000 cables and electronics items in its range, including the sought-after and sponsored 10 meter long HDMi cable. Allekabels.nl, thank you for your sponsorship!

September 11, 2021 - Today the official hand-over of the LED floodlights sponsored by LEDdirect.nl took place. Chairman Antoon van Mil of Pétanque Union Bois le Duc handed over the lamps to Jeroen Stam, Chairman of the Ouwestomp Foundation. The volunteers of the Ouwestomp Foundation install the lighting so that the pétanque players, as of September 14th, can continue to play on the coming autumn and winter evenings.

September 5, 2021 - Today our preliminary member Vera Beunk - Veeken came into action during the ‘Zegenwerp Tournament' of JBC 't Dupke in Sint-Michielsgestel. 🙂 One of her opponents: another preliminary member of Pétanque Union Bois le Duc, Oly Sathia.
Who won? That is not important. The sun was shining and people had fun, that's what counts! 😉

September 1, 2021 - Today they arrived, the 2 LED floodlights sponsored by LEDdirect.nl. 😊 After all, we are slowly approaching autumn and it is getting dark earlier and earlier, which makes playing pétanque on Tuesday evenings, on an unlit terrain, very difficult. For this reason, our association has been looking for suitable but above all free LED floodlights. After all, as a new association, we are not yet fully funded.
See the result of our search here: two 100 Watt LED floodlights (= 750 Watt halogen) sponsored by LEDdirect.nl. It's fantastic that LEDdirect.nl helps us so selflessly! 😊
The Ouwestomp Foundation will realise the lighting on a lamppost that they still have. Since we will not need the lighting after moving to the new accommodation, we will donate it to the veterans' organisation. They then have a nicely lit parking lot.
The aim is to have the court/terrain lighting ‘up and running’ before the end of this month (read: September).
July 25, 2021 - A first somewhat modest success for Pétanque Union Bois le Duc in the competitive atmosphere. Chairman Antoon van Mil, together with preliminary member Hans van Woerkum, managed to seize the 3rd place in the 'Stay at home tournament' of P.C. Dommels Boeleke from the town of Dommelen in Brabant by winning 4 out of 4 matches. Congratulations gentlemen! 😊

Despite this noble endeavor, there was a fanatic but extremely sporty battle for the highest honour during the final. Who would win 'Bossche Boules 2021' on behalf of his or her neigbourhood!? This honor went to Corrie van Mil - de Looijer who, on behalf of De Schutskamp, became 1st over 3 rounds, winning 3 matches with +29 points. She was closely followed by André Abdoella, playing for 's‑Hertogenbosch Zuid, with only 2 points less. The 3rd place also went to De Schutskamp: Gerard van der Loo won 3 matches with +20 points.

The need for an official pétanque association became more than clear during the event. Pétanque Union Bois le Duc wants to meet this need and is working hard to build its own accommodation on the grounds of soccer association s.v. C.H.C. (16 courses). Against the current of the Corona pandemic, the association already has a membership base of more than 80 people within a few months and this number is growing steadily.
Support us to realise our plans and become a preliminary member too. Click here for more information or drop by on Tuesday evening or Saturday afternoon. 😊

June 30, 2021 - As of Saturday July 3, 2021 we will play on the terrain of the Ouwestomp Foundation at Fuik 9 in 's‑Hertogenbosch. This site is about 300 meters from the jeu de boules course on the Kooikersweg, which until now served as our base of operations.
Salient detail: from the terrain at the Ouwestomp Foundation we look out over the terrain of soccer association s.v. C.H.C. and the location where Pétanque Union Bois le Duc wants to settle permanently.
At the new location we have 6 consecutive courses with a length of 13 x 2.5 meters. This gives us the opportunity to receive more people at the same time but also to play together instead of fanning out to other courses in the area.
Coffee, tea, soft drinks, etc. are available at the location of the Ouwestomp Foundation. A cup of coffee costs no less than € 1.00: you can't get away with that in the catering industry! 😊
And if you have to go to the toilet after drinking too much coffee: that is also possible. 😉
On Saturday afternoon we play from 13:30 as usual. Gathering and play-in takes place between 13:00 and 13:30. If you arrive a little later, no problem: you can join in at the next game. From Tuesday evening July 13, 2021 we will also play there during the week. Start of the first game at 19:30, gathering and play-in between 19:00 and 19:30. Until then, there will be no games on Tuesday evenings, this also due to 'Bossche Boules 2021' for which it is still possible to register. 🙂

June 14, 2021 - Under the watchful eye of the Alderman for Work and Income, Care, Heritage & Sport - Mr Huib van Olden -, the official kick-off of the 'Bossche Boules 2021' took place today. The primary goal of the event is to promote social cohesion and bring people together through (low‑threshold) sport.
The official opening of the ‘Bossche Boules 2021’ was performed by Alderman for Work and Income, Care, Heritage & Sport - Mr Huib van Olden.
The organisation (social events agency More2Win and Pétanque Union Bois le Duc) can look back on a very successful first evening in which 40 participants from all walks of life took part on the jeu de boules courts at De Eendenkooi (De Schutskamp) in 's‑Hertogenbosch.
Go to 'Results' to view the results of the neighbourhood tournaments so far. Click here to view the photos taken during the neighbourhood tournaments.
Registration for the 'Bossche Boules 2021' is still possible! Go to www.bosscheboules.nl/en and sign up. 😊
Please note: the 's-Hertogenbosch South location is already fully booked.
May 9, 2021 - Suddenly a journalist from the Brabants Dagblad called our President. Whether or not he would like to appear in the column ‘The city of ...’. Great, another welcome promotion for our association and the sport ‘pétanque’! 😊
April 29, 2021 - As of Saturday, May 1st the intention is to throw a boule every week and without any obligation, with the preliminary members and those interested in Pétanque Union Bois le Duc. The aim of these afternoons is to stir up the club feeling among the preliminary members and to offer those interested the opportunity to throw a boule around in order to get to know the sport and the people of our association, this of course in the hope that they will become a member as soon as our accommodation at s.v. C.H.C. has been realized. 😉
The jeu de boules court in the play park at the Kooikersweg serves as a base, marked with ‘A’ in the image below. Around it, there are another 3 courts within a radius of 100 meters. Just a little further away is a 4th court, on the Baksvelstraat. So plenty of leeway.
Do you want to participate? Which you can! As of Saturday, May 1st we play every week. We will gather on court ‘A’ between 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM. As soon as there are enough players a toss will be made and everyone goes to a court. After each round, players gather at court ‘A’ to reroll and determine who the teammates and opponents are for the next game. This way you always play with but also against others, which is so challenging!
There is no sanitary facility. You need to bring your own drinks, along with a good mood. 😉
😷 Note: we naturally expect everyone to adhere to the 1.5 meter rule. This should be possible given the nature of our sport and the spacious location of the courts. 😷
April 7, 2021 - The promotion ball rolls slowly but steadily. 😊 The first big media attention within the Municipality of 's‑Hertogenbosch.
March 27, 2021 - Today Pétanque Union Bois le Duc organised a jeu de boules clinic for the first time, this despite the harsh and very lashing wind. This clinic took place on the municipal jeu de boules court on the Kooikersweg in the residential area De Schutskamp, located next to the playground and about 250 meters as the crow flies from the location where Pétanque Union Bois le Duc will eventually establish itself, namely the terrain of soccer association s.v. C.H.C.
For more photos and a satellite overview, click here.
If the weather permits, from now on there will be played every Saturday from 13:00 on the jeu de boules court on the Kooikersweg. Everyone can participate, there are always extra boules available. You are most welcome! 😊
March 19, 2021 - In the run-up to the European Championship Pétanque in 2022 at the Bossche Parade, the social events agency More2Win from the city of Eindhoven has recently also started working together with Pétanque Union Bois le Duc. The event, the sport and the location give rise to tackling a pressing social issue: growing loneliness and limited social contacts, especially among the elderly. The Corona crisis has only exacerbated this problem and many vulnerable elderly people are suffering from it. Jeu de boules, a social and small-scale activity par excellence, becomes the central means of bringing people together in this social program. To make new contacts through fun and exercise and to secure them in the places where they are most important: in the neighbourhoods of the cities in the county of Noord‑Brabant. In this assignment More2Win works together with, among others, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Municipality of 's‑Hertogenbosch, BrabantSport, the Dutch Pétanque Association (NJBB), Team TOC and recently also with Pétanque Union Bois le Duc.
In the summer of 2021, More2Win will run various neighbourhood tournaments together with Team TOC, the Municipality of 's Hertogenbosch and Pétanque Union Bois le Duc. The pilots will take place in 4 different neighbourhoods in ‘s‑Hertogenbosch, including: Graafsewijk, Kruiskamp/Schutskamp, South and Centrum Hondsberg (Rosmalen). The neighbourhood tournaments take place in the month of June, after which the final takes place on the Parade in ’s‑Hertogenbosch.
Based on the lessons learned, neighbourhood tournaments will take place in several cities in the county of Noord‑Brabant in 2022. In the weeks leading up to the European Championship Pétanque 2022, More2Win is organising various small-scale jeu de boules tournaments (Bossche Boules) in the neighbourhoods. Young, old, very sporty, less sporty, vulnerable, less vulnerable: everyone in the neighbourhood can participate! Jeu de boules is an accessible sport and suitable for everyone. In many neighbourhoods there are already permanent jeu de boules courts that can be used immediately. By means of these activities More2Win wants to strengthen existing friendships in the neighbourhood, but above all to create new friendships. The winners of the neigbourhood tournaments will be allowed to play their finals on the big stage of de Parade in ‘s‑Hertogenbosch during the European Championship Pétanque 2022.
Partly thanks to the BrabantSport Fund, it is made possible to organise the Bossche Boules in the neighbourhoods of the other cities in the county of Noord‑Brabant (B5). By using existing structures of neighbourhood employees during the neighbourhood tournaments, such as neighbourhood sports coaches, we take into account that the Bossche Boules tournament will continue to return annually after the European Championship Pétanque 2022. In this way, the event contributes to an inclusive and vital Noord‑Brabant: stronger together through sport. The BrabantSport Fund has the ambition to make Noord‑Brabant happier by linking sport to social issues. The fund is a unique collaboration between the county and the business community of Noord-Brabant.
March 8, 2021 - The boules sets sponsored by OBUT have arrived! 12 sets, nicely engraved and, as a surprise: a large number of OBUT jacks. Thank you OBUT!!! 😊
February 18, 2021 - The most famous supplier of boules, OBUT, sponsors the practical start of our association by providing 12 sets of official match boules in all sizes and weights. With this we can immediately teach our new (youth) members our beautiful game with the right material. The sets are also engraved (‘PU01’ to ‘PU12’) so that we don't just lose them over time.
Un grand merci à vous …
